Name
Institution
Agile project management mainly focuses on the quality of the project via cross-functional teams. The operations of the team require proper coordination to enhance cohesion within the team. Therefore, communication is an integral part of project management. It is critical to note that agile projects require close interaction between the client and the project team. Therefore, creating an effective communication platform will help the project realize its long-term ambitions. That notwithstanding, the project managers, in this case, need utmost visibility of the project to adopt new changes arising out of project complexity (Hornstein, 2015). Moreover, there is a greater need for the project managers to offer constant and accurate project briefings to the executive often to aid further understanding of the process. There are several people who are directly or indirectly involved in the project management process. A proper channel of communication is necessary to facilitate proper understanding of every process and the levels in different teams. Consequently, communication remains vital in agile projects.
Impact of effective communication in five years
Five years is a long-term period for a project. During the start of a project, the management set the timeframe for a given project work. While the project timeline is assigned to specific duties, communication across the phases and project processes is necessary. Therefore, effective communication will provide the following;
Understanding of project management processes
The time provided for a project will enable the team to plan for every aspect of the project to ensure that it is completed within the stipulated period. As a result, the management team will have to initiate the process in collaboration with the client and team members. The process of developing a scheme of work for the project will require that members of the project get involved in the processes besides undertaking specific roles (Larson & Gray, 2013). Effective communication helps the project stakeholders develop a mutual understanding of the process. During the course of the project, there is involvement of different personnel in the project activities. The customers can adjust requirement thereby forcing the project manager to initiate changes to the project. Coping with such challenges ensures that the members of the taskforce get directives from the senior executive members. Effective communication will foster understanding of the process necessary for changing the project scope (Snyder, 2014). The management has to inform the team about the need to give the project additional attention and the ways to accommodate the new changes introduced by the customers. As a result, the team members will have better insight into the project processes both from the management perspective and the ways to handle future challenges. The team members are able to grasp the procedures required to introduce changes to the project when it is already ongoing. During the project process, it is important that a series of supervisory activities and client involvement is understood. The project manager must monitor the work progress. On the other hand, they must keep the client satisfied about the status of the project. Several people should be informed about the progress at every stage of the project. All these activities use communication to develop proper conceptualization and comprehension of the processes. Therefore, members of the project team will get to understand their duties appropriately so as to facilitate the smooth operations. As a result, they get to understand these stages to help overcome future challenges during similar projects.
