INSTRUCTIONS TO CANDIDATES:

Assignment Question

You are required to produce a formal report of 2,000 words, discussing the issues of leadership in terms of a product manufactured by an organisation that is considered to be a market leader.

For the purpose of this report, first select an organisation that is considered as a technological leader in New Product Development. Visit their website to choose a category of products of interest to you (e.g. Sony and music, electronics, or online games), and research one of the products in that category.

Your report should include the following:

• Introduction to the organisation, including a brief explanation of product/service portfolio
• the significance of innovation and how it links to wider strategic issues within the firm
• the technologies that have brought about changes/innovations and implications associated with being a technological leader
• assess in what ways and to what extent globalisation has affected the firm’s operation
• your critical evaluation of your selected business in relation to people, technology and the marketplace in the 21st Century
