Kudler's Frequent Shopper Program
There are different ways of looking at the Kudler’s frequent shoppers program with both pros and cons in mind. The company started in the late 1990’s by a woman named Kathy Kudler. She started the business because of her passion for gourmet foods and the apparent lack of stores to purchase such items. The first store was opened in La Jolla and then they increased profitability by opening two more stores in Del Mar and Encinitas all which reside in California.
This is done by the owner and all items are bought in bulk, the idea is to have the freshest products at the lowest prices. The staff will eventually remove any items that do not sell but this comes at a cost, profit, especially if the product does not due what is expected. This helps the company control waste and above all cost. This is done with a specialized staff trained on gourmet foods to help not only the business to thrive, but help the customers choose the best and freshest products on the market. This type of service will be very important to the company if a frequent shoppers program is to be implemented for the consumer.
The program will give different incentives to customers and in turn help Kudler’s to only carry what the customers want. This will help not only the bottom line but also help maintain the companies standing in the overall market. Forming an overall marketing strategy will be the focal point but it will be the customers’ decisions that drive the purchases and the company’s profits. Frequent shopper programs are common place in the market and with this added incentive the company will not only keep its current customers but will also attract new shoppers to the store.
If the program is to be a success there will need to be different ideas put into place. First a database will need to be implemented to track customers purchases, this will cost a considerable amount of money but the outcome will be worth the price due to the data that it will recover. This database will collect data, not only on current customers but new customers as well. This database will then market the best strategies for the company by comparing buying habits. There would also be a need to create and redesign the website to help explain the benefits of the new program and how it will help the consumer save time and money. This would be the beginning of the legalities that the company will face in setting forth the new program. Along with the website redesign there are other concerns as well. There will need to be security measures put in place to protect the data this would include firewall and software protection. With this type of protection in place it would allow the company to stay ethical and the protection would keep the company safe from all forms of outside interference, this would require either a full time I.T.
