Leadership Styles
Introduction
Leadership is the process through which a person, in this case, the leader, influences a group of persons towards the understanding and completion of a common goal. The effectiveness of leadership depends on the style of leadership that the leader adopts, and usually depends on the context of leadership. This implies that different leadership styles are effective in different situations (Tittemore, 2003). A leader that I admire is Sir Richard Branson founder the Virgin group. He is a leader that inspires other, is willing to try new ventures, and even is willing to fail.
One of the many ways Sir Richard Branson is a leader is the way that he inspires other to dream big and achieve. Dearlove (2010) stated. “Branson is a ruthless workaholic” (p. Xii). I would venture to say that Branson is not just a workaholic, but a man on a mission to make the world better. In his business or personal life he strives to break boundaries whether it is with a hot air balloon ride across the Atlantic or taking passengers to space. He innovates and leads a vision of making the world a better place. When he speaks, people listen he has over seven million followers on LinkedIn.
When he starts a project, he is willing to put it all on the line so that the project can succeed. Even when the project is a bust, he was still ready to give it a try. If one looks at Virgin Bridal, first opened in 2004 and expanded in 2007 then closed in 2012. It was concluded due to losing too much money. That is not a big stumble for Branson. He continued to work on more projects and will willing to try harder and hire smart people to help him improve.
