Offshore Outsourcing Impact

The expansion of global commerce has resulted in the movement of many high paying IT jobs to countries outside of the United States during the past 10 years (Gupta, Govindarajan, & Wang, 2008). The outsourcing trend that started with low paying production jobs and has evolved to global practices that include IT jobs and technical jobs at all levels. IT jobs that do not demand a physical presence at the point of delivery can often be accomplished at remote locations and sites. This flexibility allows geographical separation between the persons making a request and the persons who resolve or satisfy the request.

The distance between the request and satisfaction of the request is inconsequential because innovations in communications, computers, evolution of Multi-national companies, and relaxed governmental policies. These factors have provided capabilities that have no geographic limits. Everyone is receiving more information and opportunities to acquire greater awareness. The controversy about offshore outsourcing of high paying and high skilled IT jobs is intense.

Logical arguments regarding benefits and harm seem to have equal merit. The problem analysis research accomplished o date is helpful but the needs for development of viable transitions to new economic formats with enhanced delivery of enhanced products may be important and required.
