Chapter 1, Question 4
Importance: Senior Management must see it as important in order to set up a team to organize the project.
Scope: The project must be difficult enough and have specific steps that have a deadline, precedence, cost, and scope.
Life Cycle with a Final Due Date: The life cycle must grow in size, then peak, then start to decline, and finally end.
Interdependencies: Projects interacting with other projects.
Uniqueness: Projects must be unique and have a unique purpose.
Resources: Projects only have a limited budget and needs to be completed within that budget.
Conflict: Member have conflict with budgets. Leaders have conflicts with project problems.
Chapter 2, Problem 1
Project A - $250,000/$75,000 = 3.3 Years
Project B - $150,000/$52,000 = 2.9 Years
Project B is better in a payback perspective.
Chapter 3, Question 20
As you near completion of a project any problems that come up need to be fixed faster and cheaper. Near the end you do not have as much time or money to deal with the problems that come up. In the beginning you can rearrange items to help with the budget and schedule.
Chapter 4, Question 3
During Buildup conflicts about project schedules, priorities, administrative issues, and technical conflicts.
During the main program the schedules become the largest conflict. Priority project tasks are being completed and other tasks need to catch up.
During the phase out stage the main conflict is meeting the deadline which causes stress in the members.
Chapter 5, Question 5
The project management office normally looks and watches over the entire project as a whole. The project management office is the source of documentation and guides the entire project. The project management office will help to avoid any problems or risks that may come about.
