        The critical path starts with the Project Kick-off, then it goes to Project Documents, Status Reports/Meetings, Initial Planning Meetings with Vendors, Building Permits, Drywall, Finish Work, Workbenches, Move, Procurement Close, and ends with the Project Close. If the permits are not received per schedule you cannot go forward with certain parts of construction and can have a trickledown effect to the rest of the project. This will cause the project to be delayed and could cause a huge loss in revenue. If the finish work contractors walk off the job halfway through you will have to find new ones. This most likely won’t cause a lengthy delay as you can start setting up benches and move some of the equipment in while some work is incomplete. However, rushing to find a new contractor could cause you to spend more money that initially expected due to not having the time to compare quotes with all the available contractors. Having the framing and drywall contractors running behind schedule with only half a crew will increase the project timeline. This will cause the finish work and everything scheduled to take place after the drywall and framing is completed. Having to replace a third of the workbenches due to poor quality will cost the company money but won’t significantly delay the project. These can be replaced quickly while the packing and moving is being completed.
