Executive Summary
Purpose and Method of this study
The objective of this report is to research and analyse on the similarities and differences on the 4 management functions of Foreign company, Apple and local company Sakae Sushi as well as give suggestions on ways to motivate employees .
Methods of analysis includes secondary research such as Newspaper Articles on each company, Wikipedia, Interview with the leader of each company and lastly, annual report.
Findings & Conclusion
The findings and recommendations of each are summarized in the following report.
The report consist of 4 main parts of comparison among the 2 companies:
- Planning Function
- Organising Function
- Leading Function
- Controlling Function
The result of this study shows that have differences in the type of strategic, operational and standing plan s they adopt. Both companies adopt similar functional departmentalisation but are suitable for different organisation designs; Apple should adopt a more mechanistic design while Sakae Sushi should adopt a more organic design. Moreover, both leaders also has different leadership behaviour as Tim Cook (Apple) is more directive while Douglas Foo (Sakae Sushi) is more supportive. Thus this report will further support these comparison of management practices between Apple and Sakae Sushi.
