Christian Dior is a France-based holding company that specializes in the production and distribution of consumer goods. It owns a portfolio of luxury brands and its business activities are divided into six business segments:
• Christian Dior couture
• Wines and Spirits
• Perfumes and Cosmetics
• Watches and Jewelry
• Fashion and Leather goods
• Selective Retailing
The Christian Dior couture segment designs, manufactures and sells luxury goods. The wines and spirits produce various types of alcoholic beverages. The Perfumes and cosmetics segment sell fragrances and cosmetic products. The watches and jewelry design and sell products, while fashion and leather goods segment manufactures leather handbags, shoes and other small leather goods. The Selective Retailing segment refers to retailing through Le Bon Marche and Sephora.
Because of the six production lines, Christian Dior has diverse market and hence different competitors. Its major competitors are mainly from France, UK, USA and Japan.
Over the past five years the group has seen the turnover of Dior increase exponentially thanks to a diversification strategy that results in the creation of enterprises, and is a real growth driver. The group chose to diversify its products and its customers:
