1. In what way could the huge cultural diversity in South Africa pose challenges for MNC’s seeking to set up business there?

Well to start I think that not only the the cultural diversity will pose challenges but also the social and economic diversity will pose challenges as well. Even within the same racial groups there is a huge variety that is somewhat looked over when it come to South Africa. Trying to recruit a workforce is going to be hard due to the fact that the workers are going to be from different backgrounds and have to learn how to work and communicate together and with interracial language barriers within races make it near impossible. Even different departments within an organization are going to have problems of their own. For example marketing strategies might have to be adjusted to the needs of the different ethnic groups in the country.

2. How is South African culture different from or similar to U.S. culture?

Well I would say that a similarity that the U.S. and South Africa have with culture is the different racial discrimination history. But on the other hand differences are:

Bad infrastructure development

Different educational background

Bad housing and living

Huge crime rate

3. In what ways could South Africa benefit from hosting the world cup in the long term?

A big benefit in the long term could be the environmental impact since green and energy saving technology was used in the stadiums and other facilities. Also since they improved infrastructure, that might attract new foreign investors. Another benefit could be the trained workforce they made for the Cup might attract new foreign investors to hire them. The green technology projects might become role models for
