Overall Research Approach
I made use of the guidelines provided by Oxford Brooks University in its 2012/13 Information Pack for the RAP preparation. I selected the topic (8); the analysis and evaluation of the business and financial performance of an organisation for three year period and identified Sri Lankan Airways as the organisation for my study.
I then made a concentrated effort to collect information like latest company annual reports. I reviewed relevant books, magazines, journals etc. I also identified the relevant online sources. As primary data was not essential for this study; I made attempts to use only secondary data.
I went through various academic models and techniques for the purpose of carrying out the analysis which could provide a structured approach.
Meetings with my mentor were organised at the right stage of the project as an on-going task. I took the meetings seriously because it was an effective guiding path towards the progress of my research work. I was also required to present my work to the mentor at the last meeting.
As I was determined to carry out a target oriented research on the topic, I paid special attention to any ethical issues relating to the research and made an effort to avoid any chance of plagiarism.
I made a check list and ticked off each of my project objectives and research questions to ensure that I had answered them upon completion of the report.
