Strengths and Weaknesses of Ruby Tuesday
Ruby Tuesday was founded in 1972 by a man named Sandy Beall. He had an idea to create a restaurant with wonderful food with fantastic prices within a fun and friendly environment. Ruby Tuesday is now a publicly owned company with more than 40,000 corporate and franchise team members. The restaurant is known for reinventing itself; nothing stays the same for too long. Our mission is to be a great restaurant company that provides the highest quality and greatest value to every guest, every team member, and every shareholder we serve. (Woods, 1994, p. 45).
This study of Ruby Tuesday will look at the strategic plan to running a successful company. The plan is referred to as SWOT (Strengths, Weaknesses, Opportunities, and Threats). First, the study reveals the strengths of the restaurant and how it has maintained to stay in business. Some of the strengths presented from a study in 1992 were hands-on leadership, good management team, fast reaction from management team, and strong technical skills. Ruby Tuesday contributes 20 percent of the net sales from guests who brings in a give back flyer. Since August 2013, the company has donated a total of $56,449.58. Including organizations such as, South Florida American Association Zoo Keepers, Mount Airy youth football and cheerleading teams, and Practical Compassion. (http://rubytuesday.com/story.asp). The restaurant hires the most pleasant employees who greet every guest with excellence. Employees are passionate who work for Ruby Tuesday making the stay delightful.
An area in which Ruby Tuesday has weaknesses includes, internal communications, stakeholder needs, planning system, lack of proactive approach, and review of compensation system. The company can minimize its weakness in the area of internal factors. According to Bradley (2011), internal factors refer to factors that are inherent to the organization and which the organization has greater influence over. The most essential internal factors affecting Ruby Tuesday include financial resources for the organization, capacity of human resource and technology. These three factors influence the ability of the organization to turn efficient operations which will guarantee the customers' satisfaction. So as to maintain its competitiveness Ruby Tuesday needs to make the factors flexible to the extant market conditions and situations
