Support Mobile Health Clinic: The Children’s Health Find of New York City

Overview

The Children's Health Fund focuses on providing healthcare to the "nation's most medically underserved children." The healthcare is delivered in RV -size mobile medical clinics to bring care to the people that are in need, visiting low-income neighborhoods, homeless and domestic violence shelters, schools, and community centers. These mobile medical centers also responds to public health crises emergencies, including 9/11 attacks, hurricanes Rita, Katrina and Sandy, as well as the Gulf of Mexico oil spill. The Children's Health Fund prides itself on providing high quality primary care but the company is also facing challenges and difficulties. The CHF must develop a systemized approach that is aligned with high quality services typically found in a standard physician's office. This involves a need for sufficient high quality electrical power and network availability, which may be difficult to obtain during a crisis. The CHF must also comply with regulatory standard set forth by health organizations and government legislation. The computer and communications technology must be reliable and dependable, and have access to technical support.

Problem/Issue:

  1. Access to patient data previously captured  in patient records system in the clinic (or MMC) but not yet available in the patient record system in the clinic

  1. Access to personnel at another medical facility for either an emergency consult or referral, or a more routine referral.
  1. Security of patient data
  1. Sufficient high quality electrical power
  1. The company is having difficulty with real time connectivity (they are not up to date when it comes to their data’s)
  1. The company is also facing challenges with its internet access.

Required:

  1. Securing faster internet access

  1. Acquiring memory storage space
  1. Acquire a sufficient and reliable power source

 

  1. Securing patients data files

  1. Obtain real time connectivity

 

Solution:

  1. Establish a Filing System: The nurse or personnel will update medical record of the patient afterward send to the recognize system of MMC.

  1. Network stability and throughput using LTE 4g (LTE stands for Long Term Evolution and is short for a very technical process for high-speed data for phones and other mobile Devices).
  1. The main head quarter’s office in New York should always have a backup information for each patient.
  1. Installation of solar panels and inverter that can give enough power during power outage and calamities. Generators will be installed in the vehicles to in order to keep the system running. The use of the generator is to keep the equipment running in case of lack of sunlight.
  1. To have a fixed station in each city.
  1. Acquiring hard drives with a capacity of 1 terabyte

Recommendation

  1. The adoption of better applications will make it easier for the transfer of patient documents, visit and insurance information.

  1. To have a fixed station in each city. The purpose of this fixed station is to be updated and transfer data from one fixed station to the main server. When the main server (which in New York) is updated the rest of the stations would also be updated every 6 hours in case if patients/ the mobile clinics have moved to another location within that time frame. The vans would be heading to those stations within the designated area to acquire the latest updates of the patients four times a day.
  1. Each MMC should be equipped with a hard drive.
