EXECUTIVE SUMMARY

As a leading telecommunication equipment manufacturer in the Information Communication Technology (ICT) industry, Huawei has been aware of its responsibility in promoting sustainability, and has released sustainability reports since 2008.

This report focuses on analysing the 2014 sustainability report of Huawei, explaining the main corporate social responsibility (CSR) activities and providing recommendations as to how Huawei might improve its sustainability outcome.

Based on the corporate strategy of “Being Integrated”, Huawei builds its sustainability strategy on four pillars: 1) Bridging the Digital Divide, 2) Supporting Stable and Secure Network Operations, 3) Promoting Environmental Protection, and 4) Seeking Win-Win Development. It prepares the sustainability report according to “In accordance - core” GRI (G4) framework, and structures the content according to the four pillars.
