THE ROLE OF ADVERTISEMENT IN MARKETING

Advertisement is a referred to the form of marketing through communication used to promote or sell something. This mostly either comes as a business product or a service. Advertising comes from the Latin word ‘ad vertere’ which means "to turn toward". Hence advertising could mean the act of creating interest towards a specific subject or idea. An adverts purpose is to create awareness about a product in such a way it intrigues you as the customer. It entices you to take part of the campaign it is endorsing.

An old time classic that always came around the holidays; this add for years became the sign that the holidays were coming. As a child it was the only thing that you could count on to come every year. With its reliable consistency it created a subconscious attachment to consumers to the point most decisions about buying soft drinks can be directly attributed to this ad campaign.

This advert has always been the most constantly memorable event that happened during a time of year that is always attributed with a lot of good things which include New Year and I must believe it made an impact on m as an individual on my choice of soft drinks. From the large trucks that moved around with Santa Clause driving them to the fact that they do not bluntly ask you to buy a product though they do enough product placement to be practically say so, every part of it is designed to hold your attention. They were interesting enough to always want to see each different version of the advert that was made that year. With the high exploitation of the ‘Christmas spirit’ and its early entrance to the market Coca-Cola is understandably the most profitable soft drink company in the US.
