1).Analyze the major reasons why and how timeshares evolved into timeshare exchange fairs. Predict the main impact that such and evolution will have on the hospitality and tourism industry in the next 10 years.

Timeshares originated in the early 1960s when a Germany Alexander Nette and his friends pooled money together and opened an apartment company called Happimag Company. The timeshare business started in the North America in the late 1960s and the industry experienced some difficulties in growth between 1970 and 1984. From 1984 to 2007, it exhibited a 14% to 17% annual growth. The major reason why timeshare has experienced continuous growth is because it adapted to differing lifestyle, income levels and travelling styles. This presented the people with opportunity to buy an interval according to their financial status and provided different units for different classes of people. This has led to increase in number of clients and customers for the timeshare hospitality.

The tourism industry is going to be very affordable and people do not need to make very expensive budgets when they have to travel. With increased development of timeshare, it leads to increased number of accommodation units capable to accommodate people from all levels of financial status and different classes of life.

2). Examine both the seven (7) factors that influence the functioning of the exchange and the impact of each factor on an exchange fair. Determine which of the seven (7) factors you believe impacts exchange fairs the most. Provide a rationale for your response

Quality of interval (ownership)

   The quality of interval is assigned to owners by categorizing them into three-color codes. Red is for the highest quality, white for the medium quality and blue for standard quality. The quality of interval takes into consideration of all people of different financial status.

Types of units available

   The timeshare resort exchange has various types of units available in most resorts such as hotel-style rooms, condominium apartments, or detached bungalows. This allows accommodation for all classes of people who could like to use the timeshare resorts.
