Training:
Training is widely understood as communication directed at a defined population for the purpose of modifying behavior, developing skills and increasing competence. Generally, training focuses on what needs to be known. Training is the act of increasing the skill and knowledge of an employee for doing a particular job. Training is a short-term educational process and organized procedure and utilizing a systematic by which employees learn technical knowledge and skills for a definite purpose. Training can be introduced simply as a process of assisting a person for enhancing his effectiveness and efficiency to a particular work area by getting more knowledge and practices. Also training is important to establish specific skills, knowledge and abilities to an employee. For an organization, training and development are important as well as organizational growth, because the organizational profit and growth are also dependent on the training. But the training is not a core development of organizational. It is a function of the organizational development. Training improves moulds and changes the employee’s knowledge, skills, behavior and aptitude and attitude towards the requirement of the job and the organization. Training refers to the learning and teaching activities carried on for the primary purpose of helping members of an organization, to acquire and apply the knowledge , skills, abilities and attitudes needed by a particular job and organization.
In training research, it is often difficult to arrive at specific answers. Many variables minimize effects and make results difficult to interpret. Furthermore, the amount of variance attributed to any one variable is usually small and short. Therefore, if training is to be an essential component of planned interventions, a uniform system of research is needed to explain how training is made effective and to indicate how resources for training should be organized and establish.
Organization is defined as “two or more people workings together in a coordinated manner to achieve group results in the organization”. In other word, organizations “are social entities that are goal-directed, deliberately structured activity systems with an identifiable boundary”. Organizational effectiveness is “the degree to which an organization realized its goals”. In the words “the degree to which an organization produce the intended output”. Organizations pursue multiple goals, and such goals must be achieved in the face of competition limited resources, and disagreement among the interest groups. Organizational effectiveness is the ability to produce desire results.
Training & development increase the employee’s performance and the employee performance is the important factor and the building block which increases the overall performance of organization. Employee performance depends on many factors like job satisfaction, overall management and knowledge but there is relationship between training and performance. Thus the purpose of this study is to show the impact of training & development on the employee performance. It is very necessary for the organization to design the training very carefully and effectively. The design of the training should be according to the needs based on the employees. On the job training helps employees to get the knowledge of their job in a better way in the job. People learn from their practical experience much better than the bookish knowledge. On the job training reduces the cost and saves time. Delivery style is a very important part of the Training and Development. It is very necessary for a trainer to engage and occupy its audience during the training session. It is very difficult for an employee to perform well at the job place in the organization without any pre-training. The trained employees perform well as compared to untrained employees.
