1. Summary:
Many people have the wrong idea about Saudi women. They may think that Saudi women are deprived of some of their rights such as choosing a profession and going to work.
The aim of this report is to discuss the situation of working women in Saudi Arabia. First, the report will give a general idea about women’s role in the society. Then, it will illustrate the status of Saudi women workers and the challenges that they might face. After that, it will analyse some of the legislations covering the employment of Saudi women in both the government and the private sectors. Finally, it will evaluate the gender equality in the work place in Saudi Arabia.
Women have to know their rights and become more involved in their community and the recent developments happening every day, changing the concepts of its inhabitants and expanding different aspects of their lives including the work environment.
2. Introduction:
• Women's role in the society
Since the beginning of humanity, women has contributed in different aspects of life. The role of women is an essential part of the process of building any society. Each society needs the power of its members, both males and females, in order to function in a balanced manner.
Women form more than 50 percent of the total of the Saudi population. At the same time, they are responsible for raising the youth and the future generations. Women try to use their full potentials to be effictively engaged in the society. They do their basic role which is taking care of themselves, their homes and looking after their husbands and children when they get married. This role should not be underestimated because women can do tremendous changes and affect the young people’s behaviors which would lead to changing the life style of the society in the future. The capacity of women to play such a role depends on their societies and the way these societies look at them and value their efforts. Actually, it mostly depends on recognizing women’s rights espicially the access to education. Equipping women with knowledge and broadening their horizons would give great results and lead to magnificent outcomes.
Developed societies make great efforts to empower women to better their status and function in the society and make them able to seize more employment opportunities.

Saudi Arabia has witnessed during the past twenty years major developments in different aspects of life, including economic, social and cultural areas. And the result of this change positively affected the personalities of the Saudi individuals.
