Animal testing has been around for almost three hundred years and animal testing scientists know more about the human body then they did ever before. Vivisection, which is the dissecting of animals for experimental use, is the starting point for animal testing and without out this who knows what scientists would be doing to find out about disease and the human body. Testing on animals that have similar structures to the human body is very important for scientists. Without animal testing cures for diseases would have taking decades to get as far as we have now with our scientific advancements. Testing generations of animals takes only a year or so while testing human generations takes hundreds of years. Others believe that animal testing is a bad thing because of the harm that is being done to these animals. Animal rights activists are the people who have the most one sided to animal testing which is that animal testing should be stopped and another form of testing should be done. Animal testing can sometimes be a good thing because it can help find cures for different diseases or cancers and it can help scientists understand more and more about the human body.
To some people animal testing is considered a very bad thing. To others like a scientist, they believe that some kinds of test a necessary to understand how the human body works and to test different kinds of medicines that could eventually cure diseases now that are currently incurable. Animal testing has a lot of benefits if it is used in a purely scientific way. When animals are being used for understanding and knowledge, animal testing can be used to advance the knowledge of what medicines will work and which ones will not. Most scientists believe that is absolutely necessary for the human race to survive that we need to test other non-humans to provide important scientific and medical breakthroughs for the near future, which says that even the experts believe that the human race needs animals ("Report"). With the animals being tested to help find breakthroughs makes it much more exciting in the fact that someday the human body will be disease free and be able to survive without worrying about certain diseases that kill off thousands of people every year. Many people have no idea what most animal testers are really doing and do not realize what they could potentially be curing because what these scientists are doing could actually save some one's life even though they may be against animal testing.
A good reason why animal testing will always be around is that it is hard to reproduce human cells and tissues that most animals have and that it is hard to find any other to do this test without using animals ("Experiments on animals"). With animal testing being so vital to the survival of the human race, animals will always be a part of how scientist understand how a medicine or a drug affects the human body.
