Benefits of Living in a Small Town
The population of our world is over seven billion. There are many over - populated cities, while numerous small cities don’t have many people. The place where people choose to live makes a strong impact to their daily life because of the advantages and disadvantages between small and big cities. Living in a small town instead of a larger city gives people many benefits such as: closer to nature, larger living spaces and lower living costs.
First of all, the most common reason that people want to live in a small town is to experience a more natural environment. In fact, the air in a small town is fresher than in a city because there is lower population, less vehicles, and less traffic jam. Also, there are a lot of trees, forests, lakes or natural places in small town that gives people fresher air. Furthermore, people in rural areas have more outside activities that are closer to natural places such as lakes, rivers, hills, etc. They can go camping, fishing, or play outside easily. On the other hand, city people spend less time for natural activities since they are not close to natural places. It costs them more money and more time to reach the natural places to enjoy outside activities.
Second, a small town provides people larger living spaces. Obviously, people in local places have more land to build houses because of the low population. It is possible for people who love to plant vegetables or flowers to own a larger garden. In contrast, with the higher population rate, people in cities face less space, smaller houses or apartments. And only rich urban citizens can afford to have a big garden. Beside that, cost of leasing or buying a house in cities is more expensive in large cities. So, with the same expense, people can own or rent a bigger space in small cities.
