Effects of Drinking Alcohol
Alcohol seems necessary when we have some very happy or unhappy things. If you just lost your girlfriend, there is nothing better than a cup of alcohol can make you feel comfortable. And if you got a promotion, the best way to celebrate it is hanging out with your best friends and drinking alcohol. However, it is obvious for us that drinking alcohol has many bad effects on our health, people around us and even some people we don't know.
First, our health is the first victim of alcohol. Alcohol is a major contributing factor to many types of cancer, especially mouth and liver cancer. Cancer cells develop from normal cells because of the body's inflammatory response from too much acetaldehyde, a chemical product resulting from the breakdown of alcohol. Alcohol causes significant alteration to the mental well-being, especially if alcohol is taken in very large amounts. Alcohol can cause depression, insomnia, anxiety and other psychological disturbances. Psychosis can occur to people who are heavily drinking alcohol. Psychosis is a condition wherein the person sees and hears things that are not really present.
Second, people around us may get hurt when we drinking alcohol. We can hear lots of news about domestic violence caused by a drunkard in family. When drinking too much alcohol, we may lost our mind and don't know what we are doing. We may bring lots of problems to our friends and family. They have to look after the drunker and make sure he will be home safe. Once one of my friends got drunk badly and he even couldn't stand up. So we had to carry him to our apartment because no driver wanted to take a drunker.
