Italy
I have a lot of countries on my to-go-to-list. The first country I would like to visit is magnificent Italy with its remote history, beautiful architectural works, and delicious food.
The history of Italy goes back to the 9th century BC when the traces of ancient Italian tribes were found. A little later Romans emerged to conquer the peninsula and to create one the most powerful states of those times – Roman Empire with a center in Rome. Rome is a capital Italy and a city that reminds of its history everywhere. I would love to see the ruins of the Empire in Rome. Coliseum is a great place to see for tourists. It must be fascinating and terrifying at the same time to go through the bloody past of the amphitheater and listen to tales of gladiators.
Italian art illuminates one of the greatest periods of European history. The artists that were born on Italian land created masterpieces that carry timeless historical value and are admired by millions of people all over the world. The greatest works of that time were produced by such remarkable artists as Michelangelo, Rafael and Leonardo Da Vinci. It would be breathtaking to see their paintings in the original while visiting the country they were born in.
There is no doubt that Italian food is one the most admirable cuisines in the world: Italian pizza (that makes my mouth water as I think about it), world known Italian wine and delicious chocolate desserts. My husband and I love to dine in Italian restaurants in the States so I can’t imagine how much we would enjoy going to restaurants in Italy.
There are so many things to see and to do in Italy and it is impossible to cover all of them within two weeks. Simultaneously, it is a great opportunity to touch and to get to know at least a little bit about Italy, one of the amazing European countries.
