There are many rules that pertain to MLA format for an essay and the possible use of plagiarism within the work. MLA itself has specific guidelines that help the author of the text to create a well worked and cited product. The format and guidelines range from the size of the paper and its font to headings and cited work. “Writers who properly use MLA also build their credibility by demonstrating accountability to their source material. Most importantly, the use of MLA style can protect writers from accusations of plagiarism, which is the purposeful or accidental un-credited use of source material by other writers” . There is also the rule that apply to plagiarism which restricts the use of the authors from putting out work that has been copied and shown as their own, when it is truly not. These rules are the guidelines to proper MLA and having no plagiarism in the text.
In MLA format of a research paper of essay, there is a format that is required to have proper MLA work. It begins with the paper, which must be on an 8.5 x 11 inch paper with legible font. The font must be size 12 and using a common font that can be easily read. There must also be a title page that contains the title of the essay in the mid center, the date, the authors name, and if needed the class that the work is being used for. These aspects make up the title page and act as an introduction to the document. The order of the information must be in the opening which gives a brief look of your work and gives leads that will further expand in your body paragraphs.
