General Purpose : To persuade

Specific Purpose : To persuade my audience that animal should not used for research.

Central Idea : Animal should not use for research due to the various reasons which are animal research is unethical behavior, animal research is unreliable and there are viable alternatives are available.

INTRODUCTION:

I. I got a riddle that I made up for the class.

A. What was once cute and furry but becomes a bloody rotted mess?

B. Well the answer to this question is an animal that has undergone chemical testing which call animal research, animal testing or animal experiment.

II. I know that wasn't too funny but I needed some sort of attention-grabber and this hit home on my topic, save animal, stop animal research.

III. Right now, millions of mice, rats, rabbits, primates, cats, dogs, and other animals are locked inside cold, barren cages in laboratories across the country.

A. The majority of research animals are used in experiments focused on disease treatment and prevention, and treatment of injuries.

B. According to data collected by F. Barbara Orlans for her book, In the Name of Science: Issues in Responsible Animal Experimentation, sixty percent of all animals used in testing are used in biomedical research and product-safety testing.

C. More than 100 million animals every year suffer and die in cruel chemical, drug, food and cosmetic tests, biology lessons, medical training exercises, and curiosity-driven medical experiments. Exact numbers aren't available because mice, rats, birds and cold-blooded animals that make up more than 95 percent of animals used in experiments are not covered by even the minimal protections of the Animal Welfare Act and therefore go uncounted.

D. Change another word to say, animals are being abuse more and more everyday in scientific experiments.

IV. Today, I would like to persuade each of you about animal research should be stopped. Animal should not use for research due to the various reasons which are animal research is unethical behavior, animal research is useless and unreliable and there are viable alternatives are available.

(Transition: Let’s begin by looking on the first reason which is animal research is unethical behavior.)
