SPEECH 3: GET TO THE POINT
Title: WIN!
(sing) “The winner takes it all. The loser standing small. Beside the victory. That’s her destiny.”
People say “Sometimes you win, sometimes you lose.” I say sometimes you win, sometimes you learn. Winning. To define it, we would probably relate it to victory in a contest or competition. However, the concept of winning for you may be different from me. For an athlete, being able to complete a five-kilometer walk every day is winning. For a student, getting the high score in a quiz is winning. For a mother, raising healthy, happy and well-mannered kids is winning. For a father, sustaining the daily needs his family is winning. For an employee, impressing his superior is winning.
We all want to be winners. Winners in our career, winners in business, winners in health, winners in happiness, winners in sport, winners in love, winners in life. I’ve personally never met anyone who has the goal of being a loser. We don’t all want to win at the same endeavor (thankfully), and we don’t all share the same definition of winning, but we do all have the desire to win at whatever is important to us.
People! Life is race but it’s not a sprint. It is a marathon, a long journey. So take it one day at a time because winning life begins with winning the day. To win the day, be more positive than you are negative. Be more fascinated than you are frustrated. Be more accepting than rejecting. Smile more than you frown. Believe in yourself more than you doubt yourself. Save more than you squander. Agree more than you disagree. Compliment more than you criticize. Work more than you whine. Laugh more than you cry. Listen more than you talk and love more than you ever have.
I stand here to challenge you to win. Instead of seeing problems, see the possibilities. Instead of seeing the obstacle, see the opportunities. Instead of waiting for things to happen, make them happen. Instead of being the liability, be the asset. Instead of dwelling in your fears, face them. Instead of avoiding work, work hard. Instead of being a follower, be the leader. Instead of saying “what if” say “why not”.There will always be winners and losers but what separates the two is their attitude towards the game.
