Turning Dreams into Reality

The future can be particularly daunting subject due to its uncertainty. The popular question "where do you see yourself in five years?" sparks a fear in many people because they have no idea. I am not one of those people. It is nearly impossible to say where I will be after I graduate college, but I am certain of one matter; I want to be in a field where I can help people, specifically children. I hope to be an elementary teacher in a developing country.

Ever since I was young I have wanted to teach. I remember coming home from school every day and immediately forcing my younger sister to "play classroom" with me. I would create lesson plans and educational games, most of which focused on the shapes and numbers due to my limited first-grade education. As I grew, so did my love for school. I considered my teachers to be of the same nature as celebrities. Seeing a teacher in the supermarket on the weekend was a rare treat. I want to teach young children because the first few years of school can influence a child's outlook on education for their entire lives, I was lucky to have wonderful elementary school teachers. They fostered a love for education that I still nurture today. Teaching is perhaps the noblest  profession. Teachers plant the seeds of knowledge into young children's minds and the possibilities of what they will grow to do are endless. I want to teach in children in developing countries because education is one of the greatest blessings a person can rec^[a][b][c]eive and, unfortunat^[d]ely, it is inaccessi^[e]ble in countless countries. While I am aware that teaching in a foreign country would be difficult, I am positive that Florida State University would wholly prepare me for all the challenges I would face.
