Why Should College Athletes Get Paid
The issue I am going to address is rule that NCAA has that forbids universities to pay college athletes. I personally am not a fan of this rule because to some people it might seem right but it is highly unfair for all of these college athletes. I feel like it is unfair because of the extended schedule that a college athlete has compared to the average college student. As for college football players they put there bodies on the line everyday and receive no type of pay.
A college athletes schedule on a daily Monday through Friday basis starts from possibly 5am and could possible end until 8 or 9 at night. This is not including homework, a college athlete might not get done with practice till about that time and have to spend the rest of the night doing homework. When the average student maybe done with classes at 12pm and have the rest of the day to do all of there homework and still have time to socialize through out the day. Also since a regular college student has so much free time they can get jobs and get money to provide for themselves. While on the other hand, college athletes have to live off small COA checks and have to rely on the university to help them finically. The college athletes, with there busy schedule has no time for a job and say if the money that the school was giving them wasn’t enough for them to get the essentials they needed, that athlete would have no way to provide for themselves.
College football brings in millions of dollars to universities all over the country every year. Where does all this money go? Not to the people the deserves it. College football coaches get paid millions of dollars of year to coach college football but there players who are actually putting there bodies on the line everyday get paid nothing. The coaches are never going to be in harms way but the players are hitting the ground, hitting there heads, and destroying there body everyday. Some college football stadiums hold up to 100,000 people and all those people are paying almost hundreds of dollars to come watch the football players play and they don’t receive any of that money.
