Why Zoo's Are Great

Having the ability to go see wild animals in a large, open habitat is very lucky. Zoos are located fairly close to everyone depending on the location. You will only have to travel an hour or less to go see the big cats, elephant, hippos and plenty of other large and small animals. This is why having animals in large, open aired cages are great. The enclosed area will change on the amount of animals in the area and the size of the animal. People can stand as close as 5 meters away from the enclosed area. Kids and adults have a chance to feed animals at certain zoos. At the Lowery Park Zoo, you can feed a giraffe graham crackers by hand and physically can feel the tongue on your hand getting the cracker. Depending on the type of animals, many of the cages have large, deep pools in their enclosed habitat. Allowing the animals to bathe, swim, and cool off from the hot, sunny day. In the wild, hungry alligators lurk in the dark waters that the animals would use. Also, certain animals would have to travel long distances to reach a water source. There is also animal-to-animal combat for the water. In the enclosed areas, the animal only has to walk a few steps to get the refreshing water. The cages are also kept clean, always have a large supply of water, and kept well feed. Feeding times of the certain animals depend on the species. If a monkey is your favorite type on animal, the kids and adults are able to get up and close to them and watch their actions. The habitats are open, allowing the animals to hear the other animals close by. This gives the people attending the zoo to hear the sounds the animals make. Visually you can learn a lot about an animal. But in front of each enclosed cage is a plaque talking about facts about the animals most wouldn’t know. The cages are a great idea that keeps the animals safe.
