Introduction Paragraph
Grabber Where would we be today without industry. Nowadays we think of industry as a backbone to our society but it was not alway the same as it is today. It has gone through a lot of rough patches to get it to where we are today.
Background/Historical Context The industrial revolution in the united kingdom is where a major portion of the industry we have today got its start.
Thesis Statement: The industrial revolution in the united kingdom has had a very large impact. Unfortunately the vast majority of the impact was negative. Children were often found working in factories. These factories had terrible working condition. The growth of many factories let to large amounts of pollution as well.
Body Paragraph 1
Topic Sentence (Main Idea #1) The impact of the cities and the environment during the industrial revolution was huge. They went from small agricultural town to big cities.
Supporting Document #1 In document B (from lesson plan (LP) #4) The poem talks about the factory town.
Explain how document supports the topic sentence Some part that the poem says are cold grey walls and blackened tower., Heavy choking air., and save our nation grow less cotton more wheat. The message in this poem is that the city is being consumed by the factory. The air is very low quality due to the chimneys of the factories. The town is not pretty it is just black and grey. And the farms are all turning to cotton to supply the factories. This is not what the people had in mind I can only hope when they opened these factories. But there is more.
Supporting Document #2 In document E(from LP#4) the poem talks about the growth of the city and how it destroyed the chances of moving back to what we once was.
Explain how document supports the topic sentence When the poet was talking about the town, wishing it would go back to what it was like before factories. This made me feel like the people of the town did not like the situation that they were in due to the conditions of the environment.
Transition Sentence The conditions of the environment were not the only thing that was bad.
