Generations

Seven billion people on Earth, amazing, isn’t it? Those seven billion fall into four different generations, we have the “Silent generation”and the “Baby Boomers”, which together make up about 7.9% of Earth’s population. Next we have “Generation X”, which make up about 65.9% of Earth’s population, combined with the late Baby Boomers and early Millennials. The “Millennials” are in fact our most recent generation, the later Millennials make up about 26.3% of Earth’s population. After interviewing three different generations, I realized they were all just about as different as I had predicted, but to my surprise, they had similarities as well.
Born in 1963, Franck Martino falls into the late “Baby Boomers”. The Baby Boomers, in my opinion lived through many memorable experiences. For example many, like Martino, experienced Apollo 11, the first spaceflight to ever land humans on the moon, the Vietnam War, and its many protesters, along with the Civil Rights Movement. From what I learned, the majority of Baby Boomers attended private or Catholic schools, it was common for many. With technology being not so advanced like today, Baby Boomers were more outgoing; It was common to attend school dances, the drive in theater, watch blockbuster movies, and many enjoyed hockey. Today, society is a lot more open and accepting, but it wasn’t always that way. Racial and gender equality, as well as the military draft were some of many social issues for this generation.
“Generation X”, similar to the Baby Boomers, yet somewhat advanced. Like the Baby Boomers, Generation X was also full of outgoing children and memorable experiences. Generation X experienced the grand opening of Disney World, as well as movies, like the Baby Boomers, but with a new kind of force; movies were advancing during this generation. Just like the previous generation, it was common for this generation to attend private or religious schools, too. Technology continued to advance during the years, yet this generation enjoyed outdoors much like the Baby Boomers. They enjoyed sports, movies, home run derby, and pretty much anything fun they could find to do.
