Final Essay
Dear President Parton,
My name is Mo Foster and I would like to thank you on appointing me as a presidential advisor. Also, I would like to congratulate you on winning the presidency, President Parton. It is a great accomplishment for women all across the world to see that a woman can and is in charge of the most powerful nation in the world. This will change the way that people look at who is supposed to be in power in America. President Parton, I will show you how the government is intended to look through the constitution, the structure of the Government, the role of specific actors within the institution of the Government, and the role of other institutions and actor such as political parties and elections.
The United States of America was established when the 13 colonies of the new world, what we now call the United states of America, fought the Kingdom of great Britten and won. At the time when the Founding Fathers sat down to decide what type of government they would put into place for years to come they made a decision for a democracy, a democracy is a government for the people by the people, and wrote it down and called it the Constitution. The founding fathers intended for the constitution to be the basis of all decisions made for the nation.
The structure of the government is extremely complex. They created a document called the constitution that is the basis of our government. There are three branches of government the executive the legislative, and the judicial. Each branch has its own set of powers given to it by the constitution. The executive branch consists of the president, the vice president, and the president’s cabinet which consists of Department such as the department of State, and Department of the Treasury. The power that the Executive branch has is to enforce the laws that are created by congress. The president also has the power to sign bills that are brought to him form the congress. The president can also reject bills which is called vetoing a bill. The president is also the commander and chief of the military. This just basically means the military does whatever he tells them to do. The Legislative branch is the branch of government consists of two different chambers, the House of Representatives and the senate. The house of representatives has four hundred and thirty-five seats and they are based on population, whereas the senate has on hundred seats and they are based on every state. Congress job is to create the laws for the citizens to follow. The final branch, the judicial branch, there are eleven unbiased justices and there role is to review the laws and make sure that they are constitutional, which means that the law doesn’t infringe on anyone’s laws. All, of these branches are part of a system called checks and balance. This is where each branch of government has a way to check and make sure that the others branches of government are kept in line. For example in the process of passing a bill into a law, if the congress passes the law then it is taken to the president. The check the president has on congress is that he/she has to approve what congress passes as a law. However the legislative branch has a check on the president where if the president vetoes a bill it can still be passed with a majority 3/4ths vote. The judicial branch falls into check and balances by approving that the bill is constitutional. The president has a check on the judicial branch by appointing justices to the Supreme Court if there is an opening, and these appointees must be approved by the legislative branch. There are other checks that don’t deal with bills such as: congress can impeach the president, the president can grant pardons to people that he sees fit, and the judges that are appointed are appointed for life. The main reason you need to know about all this is to understand why and how to pass a bill through congress. If you understand all of this it will make the process of passing the bill through congress much easier. You can prepare for passing the bill before it goes through congress.
