Proposal
Meditab Software Inc. is an EHR vendor providing practice management solutions to clinics and hospitals. It operates in US market with greater market share in few states. Company’s main product is IMS (Intelligent Medical Software). Meditab operates from multiple offices, two of them being in India and Philippines.
Meditab has seen poor results in implementing EHR to new clients in recent times. The implementation of interfaces with different organizations also fall under the same criticism by existing clients. This issue is massively affecting client satisfaction and sales for interface products. These incidents question employees’ efficiency in carrying out deadline based project management. Employees have given poor ratings for the company on online review website mentioning I would like to find out the reasons behind this issue. My focus would be in internal environment. Employee communication and coordination is important for efficient work and desired outcomes. It is instrumental for the success of any project that timeline is strictly followed.
Rationale
As an interface analyst, I used to work on 20 projects on monthly basis. This includes working with multiple clients, internal teams, third parties. Every one out of three projects used to get delayed for various reasons. This led to complaints from various clients and at times business loss as well. The cross-cultural team performance was questioned during ICD 10 codes release. Integration with other software has been a huge challenge requiring multiple teams to coordinate internally. I would like to address this issue and come up with alternatives to improve project management.
Research Plan
If allowed to proceed with my research I would like to review the current project management techniques in different organizations. Define factors that could affect project management and personnel to identify positive and negative factors for Meditab. This will require reviewing literature for standard project management. I will be studying and comparing employee communication strategies. Since the challenge is to identify flaws in implementation process, the focus would be to identify and relate various factors on their impact to overall process.
Primary Plan
Meditab provides multiple products for different customers. To understand full scope of its practice I need to carry out market position analysis and compare it to current competitors on size and share basis. I will study recent healthcare IT changes that might have affected company’s performance in positive or negative manner. To understand internal coordination, I will define current organizational structure and analyze their responsibility towards projects. This involves explaining employee roles in different practices.
