Definition:
Basically leadership is motivating & inspiring people. It is all about coaching, developing people but challenging
them for a task & get the best output from them.
As shown in case studies:
There are basically 3 types of leadership styles observed:
Autocratic: I tell, I sell
Democratic: I test, I consult, I share
Laissez-faire: Hands-off team
Now we will see how this Tesco uses all this leadership styles:
Autocratic Approach:
An autocratic management style is one where the manager makes decisions unilaterally, and without much regard for subordinates.
The Autocratic style is characterised by an " I tell" philosophy. Autocratic leaders tell their staff what to do.
As far as this cases study is concerned in case if accident happens in Stephan's store he uses autocratic leadership(i.e. I tell) philosophy by taking control and ensuring that all appropriate decision's have been made and co-ordinated in proper time
Democratic Approach:
The Democratic approach is characterized by an "I share" philosophy.
In case Martin he use "I share" approach by taking suggestions and different ideas from different managers for cost saving purpose to the organization.
Now the "I consult" & "I test "approach is effectively handled by Berlian who manages a team of 17 in a Tesco in-store bakery.
