Subject: Priorities going into Yellowtail Marine

Due to the untimely death of Mr. Olaf Gunerson, you are going into Yellowtail without the benefit of first working and learning from him. Mr. Gunerson has some very loyal and capable employees, it is very important for you to get the employees to accept you and buy in to your strategy for the company. Unfortunately there are some existing issues within Yellowtail that need immediate attention.

1. Prior to your arrival, send a heartfelt company wide memo with your condolences. Upon your arrival at Yellowtail, arrange to meet with the management staff, ensure them that you are not replacing Mr. Gunerson but rather continuing his legacy. Inform them that a lot will stay the same but there will be a strategic plan for the company to be more profitable going forward. Arrange a group meeting with the employees, express your condolences in person. Be understanding of their uncertainty as a result of Mr. Gunerson’s death and let them know you intend to share' your plan to elevate the company to the top once again.

2. First the Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA), is planning an inspection of Yellowtail’s property. Introduce yourself to the representatives and advise them of Mr. Gunerson’s death and your role as company president. Utilize Charlie Douglas, the yard manager, to conduct the tour and review policies with OSHA.

3. The Environmental Protection Agency has found pollutants being released into the bay by Yellowtails factory. I recommend that you deal with this issue with haste. I understand that Yellowtail’s legal counsel had been recommending delaying dealing with the issue and paying the fines. For the sake of the company, I strongly suggest complying with the court order and take steps to comply with the Safe Waters Act. Delaying will result in a slew of bad publicity. Perhaps this course of action can be presented advantageously by publicizing that Yellowtail is environmentally conscious.

4. Ms. Naumes, Mr. Gunerson’s secretary is having a hard time coping with the loss. And is currently on leave. Ms. Naumes is extremely valuable to the company and you will need her moving forward. Speak to her and tell her how valuable she is and that you are looking forward to working with her and learning from her. If you lose Ms. Naumes you will have
