                                         ABSTRACT

Roads are the most essential part of infrastructure for providing industry and agriculture with the connectivity to markets for growth in production and trade, and more so for improving the quality of life of its citizens.

From a decade the growth story of India has taken many folds, with infrastructure been at spotlight. Infrastructure has always been a backbone for a developing economy, and road infrastructure enjoys a special spot in it. As National Highways (NH) constitute only 2% of all road network and carries 40% of all road traffic, and the projects undertaken are significantly stalled. Hence an immediate upgradation in the technology is need of hour.

Nowadays, highway construction suffers from delay and cost overruns, which causes traffic problems, changes of design, poor planning, disputes, cost overruns, poor safety practices and time delays.

This research paper will cover the various aspects starting from the definition of project execution to deal with problems associated with a real life project- Ganga Expressway. It will also try to brief a bit about the financial analysis required at various stages of execution. It will propose the steps that can be incorporated by the Ganga Expressway- a stalled project.
