 1. Name the two causes of the Mexican-American War. (page 326-327)

        During the Mexican-American war there were two different causes that affected this war.   The first one was that the war was because of “Manifest Destiny.”  This was believe of the United States inhabit and development of the whole area.  During this time there were several American people that migrated to the west side of the lands.     President Polk was the leader fo the Manifest Destiny and he wanted to purchase the southwest lands from Mexico.  However, the Mexican government was against this and refuses to sell.   The tension between both sides became a hardship.  

The second reason of this war was because of this was the start of the Texas War of Independence.  Mexican wanted to grow the population of settlers within the lands.  They allowed the United States to and settle as long as they took oath of allegiance to Mexico.  At this time settlers were required to become Catholicism.   Many individuals migrated to this land and accepted the offer.  After time the Texans were not happy with the Mexican government. This sis when the Texas Revolution took place between the two countries for the right of independence from the Mexican leaders.  During this part of the war Santa Anna became the leader and was forced to sign the Treaty of Velasco. This allowed Texas to become independent.

2. Why was the reservation system established in Texas? Why did it not succeed? (Page 325)

Texas reservation system was created during the Reservation War of 1854 to 1859. This system was designed to assist with hopeful signs between the fight of the Native American and Anglo population.  This was the last hope of assuring the Indian’s present within Texas.  The Texas unions stop this system with federal assistance of the Indian affairs.  Texas was in control of the public lands which entered into the union.  At that time the system started to fall apart due to the Indians did not have enough land to back them up.  It was a failure due to the rejection of the new requirements of the new way of life.  Some individuals’ event raid over the northern and central parts of Texas as the land had reservations.
