Good and Bad

Good and bad are two words in our society that are diametrically different in meanings. One is viewed as positive and the other negative, one favorable and the other unfavorable. I believe good and bad are determined by being measured against moral standards; good meets acceptable standards and bad results from unacceptable standards. Each member of society possess can be appropriately described as good and bad, especially in light of biblical teachings that no one is perfect, except our "Supreme Being".
Justice and injustice are likewise the antithesis of of each other. Justice denotes something, someone, a situation or circumstance, that is fair or equitable. Unjust is a result of unfairness or inequality due to a failure to properly follow or apply an appropriate standard (e.g. law, rule, contract, custom, etc.).
My views of good/bad and justice/injustice are products of my life's experiences as well as my awareness of historic and current events. On a daily basis I see, read or hear about individuals indulging exhibiting behavior intended to in some way hurt or deprive others opportunities to live in peace to advance in society. This includes, but is not limited to, the commission of senseless violent acts against others, white collar crimes. Additionally, racial, gender, sexual orientation and other types of discrimination have been pervasively practiced against certain members of society. These various examples are bad because when measured against moral standards they are unacceptable and therefore viewed as wrong. These very acts result in injustice when condoned by laws or the misapplication of the laws. As an example, the current debate on the need for and application of the "Stand Your Ground Laws" and its alleged disproportionate application to persons of color.
