Nigeria is the world's largest production, accounting over 70-76 of the world production.
Climate/Geography:
Compared to sweet potatoes, yams are usually longer as several feet and not as sweet, having a rough, dark orange or brown surface. They're usually harvested after a year of vine growth, dried for several hours in a barn ventilated which they can later be stored without refrigeration for several weeks.
Nutritional Value:
Vitamin A in yams have other functions has in, supporting healthy bone development, providing protection from lung and mouth cancer. Yams are a good source of vitamin C which 27% of the daily value for fighting infections such as colds and flu and quick wound healing, anti-aging, strong bones, and healthy immune function. Yams also include copper (which produces healthy red blood cells), calcium, potassium (supporting optimal cell and body fluids), iron, and phosphorus are body-beneficial minerals found in yams.
Taste:
Yams are considered drier and starchier than sweet potatoes. While sweet potatoes are sweeter and moister. You can eat also eat yams with fried eggs/boiled eggs, meat stew, chicken, fish, baked beans, and onions added to it.
