Supervisory Roles & Theories of Motivation Paper
This paper will look at clarification of the theories of motivation and the development of my dream organization. It will discuss how the strategies were selected, the anticipated benefits, and what challenges will be anticipated. It will identify how the principles of motivation will be applied within the empowerment environment; explain how motivation theory supports an organization culture, and how clients play the role of collaboration in the agency when it comes to the decision-making process.
The roles of a supervisor are to have knowledge and skills in the areas of planning, budgeting, organizing, developing human resources, and evaluation programs. The supervisor is responsible for his or her performance and the performance that their employees deliver. The supervisor has to provide encouragement and support to their employees, building motivation, increase individual goals, enhance employee’s competence in service delivery, carry out ongoing assessments of their employees, and provide prompt and objective feedback (Lewis, & Packard, 2012).
For a supervisor to run a successful organization they need to use their skills and knowledge to empower their employees. The supervisor will use evaluations of their employees to give them feedback on what they are doing right and how to change their wrongs. By doing this, the supervisor is providing their staff with the knowledge to empower them to change to help met the agency and clients goals. The supervisor empowers their employees by telling them how well they are doing, giving them motivation when they need it, and being able to increase the staff goals to show the employees they have trust in them. By the supervisor staying on top of their evaluation and paying attention to their employees, they will have a smooth running organization (Lewis, & Packard, 2012).
The theory of motivation and hygiene is a motivation that is based on the employees work environment. By providing the work environment with equal company policies, good supervision, and relationships with the supervisors and coworkers, salary, job security, and working conditions can motivate the organization. This will help the client be satisfied with their work environment and motivate the employees to achieve their goals and gain responsibility (Lewis, & Packard, 2012).
An organization needs to have a reward system in place for their employees. The categories will focus on salary, overtime, holiday pay, performance bonuses, health benefits, and pension benefits. By having a reword system in place it gives the employees a sense of accomplishment and the employees will become motivated to get these rewards (Lewis, & Packard, 2012).
