The pre-referral stage entails differentiated activities that depend on the case being addressed. This stage is guided by the predicament experienced in the study case. The aims of pre-referral stage are to extensively elaborate and document the student’s problems, assess the ability of the subject responding to instructions, assess the impact of the classroom setting and monitoring the progress at hand (Smith, 2006).
Moreover, the pre-referral stage is influential in employment of screening before the identification point. This stage ideally involves the concerned teacher caring out the assessment and evaluating the child in an attempt to put into consideration whether the difficulties can be handled in the current school setting. In different circumstances evaluation can incorporate the urgency for transition. The required information used in the analysis comes from the child`s immediate family members. The physician presents the data collected on the child which informs the professionals concerning the child`s abilities. The information involves a history on medical, social state of interaction, adaptive abilities and educational progress. Evaluations in this study will include a series of analysis assessments and procedures. Further information on the subject`s main activities involving the home environment, school structure, leisure activities and relationships are collected from the family.
