MAT1002 Calculus II
Information for the Midterm Test
The midterm test is scheduled on Saturday, 19 March 2016, 10:00 – 12:00am. The test consists of 20 multiple choice questions and 6 questions, all to be attempted. All multiple Choice questions and short questions are drawn from the contents of the lecture PPTs and tutorial materials in this semester. Calculators are allowed in this midterm test but they are not generally needed.
It is a closed book format. You may bring in one page of cheat sheet for formulae ONLY. Except this, you are not allowed to bring in any other papers including blank papers.
Principles and tips for tests and exams:
Exam questions will be based on all the contents before the midterm test.
Understanding the concepts, definitions, and methodology is the key to good performance. Memorizing without good understanding is not helpful.
The ability and experience to deal with variations of the problems are crucial to get the answers correctly and efficiently.
Repeating too many similar questions is not an efficient way to prepare for tests and exams.
Make sure to show clearly the methods and steps leading to your answers. As long as you can demonstrate that you know how to solve the problems with correct methods, you will get appropriate credits.
Proper steps to justify answers are necessary for full credit (except for true-false or multiple choice questions).
If you see some ambiguity in a question, clearly state any assumptions you make in solving the problem. If your assumptions make sense, that will be recognized even if they deviate from the original intention of the question.
