This documentary is about Charles Darwin and how his theory of evolution is viewed and how it affected society and science through time. The documentary begins with that people believed and still believe that divine intervention was the origin of species. The documentary says that almost half of Americans believe that divine intervention was the origin of species. It also says how people may have had trouble to come to terms with the fact that we are related to apes. The documentary explains how Darwin's theories were misunderstood by the people of his time. The documentary gave examples of how religious people thought he was attacking their religion. It also gave examples of despotic people like Hitler who used the phrase "the survival of the fittest" to try to justify exterminating other races.
