 Daily Practice Paper - 3                                                                                     Projectile Motion[pic 1]

  1. A ball is projected from a point A with velocity 10 m/s perpendicular to the inclined plane as shown in figure. Find the range of the ball on inclined plane? Angle of inclined plane = 300.
  2. A particle projected with velocity u, strikes at right angle a plane through the point of projection inclined at an angle β to the horizontal. Find the height of the stuck point from the horizontal.
  3. A particle is projected from ground certain velocity. IF time interval to cross the path B and C is t1 and the points D and E is t2. Then find t22 – t12. Given h2 – h1 = h. Find the answer in terms of h and g.

  1. Two tall buildings are 100m apart. With what speed must a ball be thrown horizontally from the window 540 m above the ground in one building to enter the window of other building which is 50m high.
  2. A fighter plane flying horizontally at a altitude of 1.5 m with speed of 720km/hr passes directly overhead an anti-aircraft gun. At what angle from the vertical should the gun be fired from the shell with muzzle speed of 400 m/s to hit aircraft in shortest possible time.
  3. From the foot of an inclined plane whose height is 7m and hypotenuse is 25m, a shot is projected with a velocity of 196m/s at an angle of 300 with the horizontal:
  1. Up the plane.
  2. Down the plane.

Find the range in each case.

  1. In the previous example, find the greatest range.
  2. A particle is projected at an angle α with the horizontal from the foot of a plane whose inclination to the horizontal is β, show that it will strike the plane at right angles if:

Cotβ = 2 tan (α-β).
