i am student at cambodia. 1. What is employee orientation?
• It is the process by which new employees are transformed into effective members of the company.
• Effective orientation involves the following:
a. Preparing the new employee to perform the job effectively
b. Helping the new employee to learn about the organization and
c. Helping him/her to establish relationships.
2. Objective of employee orientation
• A successful orientation should achieve these objectives:
a. New employees should feel welcome.
b. They should understand the company & Its policies & procedures
c. They should know what is expected in teams of work & behaviors.
3. Purposes of orientation programs
• Orientation programs play an important role in socializing employees
• Orientation involves familiarizing new employees with company rules, policies & procedures.
• Typically, a program includes information about the company, department in which the employee will be working & the community they will live in.
• On-boarding refers to the orientation process for newly hired managers.
4. Employee orientation involves 3 phases:
1.What is employee discipline?
-A process of communicating with an employee to improve unacceptable behavioral patterns or performance.
-The goal is to guide the employee to correct his/her behavior or performance & not to punish employees.
2.Employee discipline should therefore be consider as a corrective action & should focus on identifying & addressing the root causes of problematic employee behavior rather than on punishment.
3.common disciplinary issues
-Performance problems: (not always completely within the employee's control)
1.Poor productivity
2.fail to meet performance standards
3.fail to achieve targets/goals
-Behavior problems: (usually completely within the employee's control)
