Going From Shopping to Adopting

Growing up with lots of pets gets you to really appreciate the animals lives and the joy that they bring to your life. As a child I didn’t realize that there were dogs and cats in pounds that needed homes, I just thought that our pets just appeared to make us happy. I grew up and I realize where animals come from and that there are more cats out there then there are humans.

When I was little my mom was always bringing home a new cat or dog that she had bought online. They were very expensive animals that she would grow bored of and sell them almost a year later. I remember the first breed dog we got was a Yorkie-poo named Muttley, shortly after getting him my mom bought another dog which was an Olde English Bulldog named Mimi. One day I came home from school hoping to be greeted by that small dogs happy smiles, jumps, and licking on my legs. That day I wasn’t greeted by that dog with any of those, instead I was greeted by my mom telling me that she sold Muttley because she was afraid that the bulldog was going to kill him and had told me that we had all grown bored of the little dog, which was not the case at all. I remember crying for days over him and resenting the bulldog.

As I got older she had bought five more dogs, we still have three of them but she got bored to of other two and no they’re in new homes. During all the dog buying and selling, she has bought and sold right after many cats. As well of buying cats, she bred cats and took away chances for cats in the pound to get needed homes. By the time that the breeding cat had been sold I had a cat of my own that I loved very much, and just like our first dog I had come home to find out that my mom sold my cat. At this point I still haven’t realized that there are cats out there in the pounds and shelters that need good homes and I had asked my mom to buy me a cat that I found and I got her. She was the only cat for a while but last summer my mom had went online again and got four more cats that we still have. The sad thing is that she’s talking about selling them all unless she can breed
