College is the most important gate way before getting a job and beginning the world. College provides in-depth study and professional skills. So, high school graduates spent more than 12 years to studying for enter the college. After finished the competition, they may look forward to enjoying and starting their college life. However, there is the necessary thing they should have before starting their college life. It is a taking a year off. High school graduate should have a year off before they enter the university because it will help them to start better college life.

High school graduates suffered from the competition to enter the university almost 12 years. So, they should take a year off for being recharged. They should recharge their academic battery to start fresh college life. It will afford the graduates the chances to approach the next phase of their education with fresh mood and renewed vigor through relaxing time without academic burnout. It also helps students to get high G.P.A’s. According to article, those students who were recharged through a gap year have shown a clear pattern of having higher G.P.A's than would otherwise have been predicted, and this effect lasts over all four years. To start their college life successfully and to have high G.P.A scores, recharging their academic battery through a year off period is needed.

The second reason they should take a year off period is that it is enough time to learn the second language. The second languages are more and more necessary in this society. The U.S. government has expressed a need for fluent speakers of languages other than English. Learning the second language give the benefits to enhance career chances because it can improve student’s overall communication and problem-solving skills.
