Introduction
Gay marriage should be treated and accepted equally as a legal heterosexual marriage because it is violating the human rights to against or discriminate it.
It has been a long time ago sexual discrimination does exist. However many countries in the world perhaps never been too concerned about considering this issue when these people can’t even legalized their relationship in their own country otherwise, most of countries generally against the gay marriage. Some of them should get marry in other country or they will not be treated equally as other heterosexual couple as the legal system in their own country against it. Besides, some constitution or communities very oppose the gay marriage or homosexual relationship because it has been judged as a sin for most of religion as well.
Given these points, there are some ideas and considerations about gay marriage like how were the gay movements begin, religious point of view towards gay marriage, as well as advantage and disadvantage for the community too. This is such a disputation conflicts between sex, religion, and law.
Started from the first century and keeps spreading around the world under different cultures and perspective, gay or same sex romantic love has happened. It was seen as elitism sign in China, there were songs and poems among warriors in Korea, it was known as “masculine love” in Italy, and many more (UNFE.org). What a shame people or community who are lesbian, gay, bisexual, and transgender which also known as LGBT clearly has been struggling to face the society who against their sexual orientation and identity. Especially the gay and lesbians, the concept of their relationship is more about love style (Munck 1998). It was noted one of a legal institution stated that same sex marriage is not worthy for the same level of acceptance and recognition as normal heterosexual marriage. This condition has proven the absence of respects from legal institution towards human rights (McNamara 2007).
Notably, gay and lesbian movement began largely in Europe region such as Netherlands, Britain, Germany, Sweden, Italy, and the most developed was in Berlin where a lot of bars, eating place, baths, clubs, drag balls, cafeteria, and publications thrived as well (Nardi 1998). In 1960’s New York’s City Police Department raided some places including clubs, bar, or hotel routinely since there were a lot of social movements. That night on June 28, 1969 at 1.20 am eight police officers arrived at the Stonewall Inn, just an ordinary place but such a shelter for LGBT community and was known as “gay saloon”. Not too much places would provide an “equal” service for LGBT community because of the legal system at that time was very offended towards them. After the raid, few were arrested and a woman has been violated was shout out to the people around her why they didn’t do anything and it was very provocative. Hundreds of crowds were fighting back and it was a very messed up in the inn and the next day the incident was placed on the headline for some newspaper and since that time few newspaper were published to speak out the voice of gay rights and equality (The 1969 Stonewall Riots 2014). For instance by the end of 1970s, surprisingly gay organizations in the Western societies, moreover in some part of developing nations such as Asia, Africa, Latin America, and also Eastern Europe, progressively became more obvious and political. One of the particular events was the establishment of international lesbian and gay organizational structure, the International Lesbian and Gay Association (ILGA in 1978 in Coventry, England, it has been an influential force overseeing the lesbian and gay movements in each country in the world (Nardi 1998). These past few years ILGA has been supported by United Nation (UN) and keeps developing the organization to fight for the legal recognition from all countries around the world (ILGA.org). Besides, United Nation held a campaign to raise the consciousness for LGBT people called Free and Equal campaign (Pillay 2014). Most compelling evidence South Africa became the very first country in the world to restrain the same sex civil union legally and not only that, most of young people from South Africa have taken more chances to travel around Europe for observing recreation potential that should be develop in South Africa in order to provide a gay friendly tourism country especially in Cape Town (Hubbard 2012).
