There are many cultural and economic tensions created by immigration. One huge problem is that immigrants are imported into our country because of certain skills that they possess. This can take away jobs from American workers. This can be fixed by importing less foreigners and using the Americans who have skills. Higher earners actually tend to stimulate the economy rather than lower paid workers. Immigrants are usually paid less than Americans. This, is usually the reason that they are hired in the first place.
A major issue with immigration is illegal immigration. Illegal immigrants come to America and take jobs that Americans do for less money than the American. This in tern leads to the American getting laid off. Also, illegal immigrants are usually off of the books and therefore are not obligated to pay taxes. This can be a huge problem in stimulating the economy.
I believe that the illegal immigration issue can be fixed by tightening our surrounding border. Businesses that allow immigrants to take away jobs from Americans just because they earn less should be looked into and punished. This happens right under our noses everyday, there is no reason that illegal immigrants should not be paying some taxes. They are the ones messing up our economic flow. They also are getting lower grades in school, and taking away job from people who are qualified and have put so much time and energy into getting the job done. America needs to tighten their border and watch the inflow of illegal immigrants. America also needs to recognize the state of economy.
