Let us start off by introducing ourselves; my name is Jeanet, I am the one who usually opens the door when you pick up your children. We also have Victoria; she has recently joined me in this position to which I am very excited. Some of you may know her because she has taken care of your children during your sessions.
The purpose for this letter is to briefly reiterate what was discussed during the house meeting. As some of you may know we are trying to implement more structure so your children can benefit from being in childcare. One of the things that have been discussed is trying to implement rules. This helps with necessary structure as well as with boundaries for themselves as well as others.
Due to the wide range in ages it has become a little difficult to come up with activities for all to participate in. However with 2 staff members (thus my joy!) and a few volunteers we are able to divide the kids into 2 groups separating our toddlers from our older children. I mention this because I know some of you may have been confused with what happened this past Thursday. Our goal is to be able to implement a therapeutic group for the older children while the younger ones will have more freedom to play in the casita. This obviously has already been implemented for every Thursday evenings. Otherwise everyone will continue being in the casita Monday thru Wednesday.
Another concern we have come up with is trying to see if we could help our school age children with their homework assignments. We know and understand that having all the kids in a same room creates chaos which makes it harder for the older ones to concentrate. Thus we would like to offer our help from 6:30p-7:30p with some tutoring for those children that may need it. This is not required but we would like to help those who might need the extra help.
