The position I would take regarding the development changes within the Kayapo Indian tribe inhabit areas would be to oppose the development. The Kayapo culture is characteristically rich and complex. There are many purposes for opposing the land grabbing actions for the environment along the Xingu River.
Many of the developer feel that this is a positive situation they are try to present for developing in the Amazonian territory, but they don't realize this is a destruction of a culture or in other words a sign of gentrification to a people.
• The first reason I would oppose the development is the displacement of thousands of Kayapo tribe member.
• My reason for opposing the development is that the Kayapo Dam Project would destroy much of the environmental territory that the Kayapo tribes depend on for agricultural developing.
• Another opposing factor would be the supply of fish for food would diminish from the Xingu River. With this occurring, the tribe members and other inhabitants would limit to food resources to feed family members. The dam development would not compensate the people within the developing areas of the dam project.
• Another opposing factor would be the depriving of nomadic routes, which the member would have been devastate and huge areas of untouched rainforest would have been lost forever.
• My last opposing factor is the construction of dams may cause the Kayapo and other inhabitants of the dormant river to endure more pollution and lead to the spread of diseases, such as malaria and other tropical disease forced from the debris of the dam construction.
The Brazilian government regarding the dam project believes that some positive intentions will derive from the developing that would better the environment for the Kayapo tribe member and other inhabitants that surround the area targeted for developing.
